TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Chairman of the Guardian Council Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati along with two other distinguished personalities signed up for candidacy of the fourth term of the Experts Assembly on Monday, an Interior Ministry official said.

The official who asked not to be named told IRNA that Seyed Reza Taghavi and Mohsen Qomi also registered their candidacy for the election.

Ayatollah Mohammed Yazdi, Seyed Ahmad Khatami, Gholam Reza Mesbah Yazdi, Ali Khazali, Mohammed Ali Taskhiri and Hassan Rowhani have so far registered as candidates in election to the Expert Assembly.

Registration of candidates for election of the 86-seat Assembly of Experts has been underway since October 5.

Representatives for the Assembly of Experts are being elected through national voting for eight-year term.
